    DSHS Psychiatric Child Care Counselor/Youth Support Professional 2


    Be a part of something new The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is being stood up by Washington State's Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority with generous support from MultiCare and Seattle Children's Hospital.


    The Youth Support Professional 2 will manage staff schedules within the electronic system or program designed for managing leave, attendance, and scheduling of relief staff for the Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility for Youth.

    You'll be responsible for determining staffing needs for each residential unit and schedules adequate number of staff to meet the needs of the facility.


    The facility will open with 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees.


    The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space.

    The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.


    This new therapeutic facility is slated to open in July to help youth, age 13 and older, with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder.

    Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

    King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

    Some of what you'll be doing:


    • Assigns and authorizes work duties and work locations for the shift
    • Provides facility-wide intensive application of staffing knowledge and specialist skills in the specific segment of scheduling
    • Corrects staff on the performance of staffing and scheduling duties
    • Participates in the performance evaluations by providing written guidance and feedback to department Supervisors
    • Delegates responsibility for staff scheduling, staffing, and coverage for a 24-hour facility
    • Manages and maintains the facility system for Leave, attendance and scheduling
    • Serves as the Scheduling coordinator and responsible for troubleshooting and training other lead staff on scheduling processes
    • Serves as the primary liaison for communicating any issues with the scheduling system to the respective parties
    • Changes on-call and permanent staff schedules in the system as needed
    • Monitors, tracks, and runs reports related to staffing levels, leave trends, and overtime. (OT) use relating to L&I coverage, unexpected leave and FMLA use
    • Provides day to coverage of phone and other communications and relays changes to staffing and coverage related to staff call outs and emergent needs
    • Manages the approved vacation segments Per the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare, Collective Bargaining Agreements
    • Creates and maintains a list of qualified schedulers and trains them on call-out coverage procedures
    • Facilitates the licensing verification system (MD-Staff) and others
    • Monitors and tracks upcoming expirations and communicates supervisors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
    • Reviews on-call availability and utilization
    • Coordinates with each staffing unit
    • Provides coverage based on program needs
    • Assists with recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding of new hires
    • Assists with organization wide training and quality improvement activities, including but not limited to special projects
    • Facilitates meetings and participates in discussions to enhance communication regarding time and attendance program and staffing
    • Coordinates schedules for staff development training activity with supervisors
    • Provides situational coaching, teaching, and mentorship to youth
    • Other duties as assigned

    Who should apply:
    Professionals with two years experience as a Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 1


    OR
    One year of experience of social service experience and a bachelor's degree with emphasis in Social Sciences, Education, Recreation, Psychology, or related field
