    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This is a professional position requiring skills in professional and technical activities related to dental public health activities. This position works in the Public Health Dental Program and works under the supervision of the Program Administrator.

    Compile and organize public health, state demographics and dental health information in a logical format, in text and graphic form for state and federal reports, grant submissions, presentations at meetings, seminars and conferences, and publications.

    Works collaboratively with the Bureau of Clinic Management and Informatics in the Division of Health Statistics and Analysis to assist in the management of the HMS data collection system and managed care plan contracts. Identifies areas for data collection improvement and assists in improvement processes and projects including the Public Health Dental Program's FLOSS (Florida Linked Oral Status System) database.

    Acts as a liaison to the county health departments. Develops, monitors and assesses quality improvement activities that will result in the development of effective and efficient county health department dental programs. Monitor county health department expenditures and communicate with the CHDs on expenditure usage and reporting. Provides technical assistance, administrative and quality assurance guidance to county health departments.

    Develops and manages (including but not limited to amendments and expenditure reconciliations) contracts, agreements, and purchase orders as assigned. Seeks grant opportunities, prepares, develops and submits oral health workforce grant applications. Monitors grant projects, prepares grant reports (budget, progress, annual and other requested reports) and tracks grant expenditures.

    Assists in routine operation and special initiatives of the Public Health Dental Program as assigned, including, but not limited to, participation in meetings, preparation and delivery of presentations, development of surveys, and researching data and other information. Assists in implementing strategies related to the State Oral Health Improvement Plan and the State Health Improvement Plan; works collaboratively with external and internal partners to include, but not limited to, academic institutions, professional organizations, community groups, county health departments, community health centers, and other stakeholders.

    Serves as the program's backup legislative analyst and provides reports and requested reviews of program assigned legislation. Reviews and/or drafts proposed legislation as related to oral health issues as needed. Prepares bill analyses and fiscal impact statements as necessary.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of dental public health desired. Communication, organizational, social perception, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of methods of compiling and organizing information. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; apply public health concepts and principles to research related activities in order to identify determinants and risk factors for oral health outcomes in Florida; assess data capacity related to access to oral health care services and health outcomes; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; compile, organize, and interpret data in a logical format, in text and graphic form for state and federal reports, grant submissions, presentations at meetings, seminars and conferences, and publications; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Skilled at interpretation of data. Knowledgeable and proficient with use of computers, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

    Qualifications:

    Master's in public health or health-related field preferred. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. The incumbent may have access to records containing social security numbers in the performance of job duties. Contract Manager - Serves as contract manager as required by Section , Florida Statutes. Purchasing Card - Assigned Purchasing Card responsibilities. Purchasing - This position is responsible for the preparation of purchasing and the approval of purchasing.

    Preferred: Master's in public health and contract management experience.
