Description
The Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering (AIBE), Junior Professorship in Artificial Intelligence in Communication Disorders, located in Brownsville, is seeking a qualified candidate for the following position:

Job Description

The Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (StMGP) is funding a project called "KIMALAYA" in which we are investigating the automatic detection and evaluation of children's drawings during preschool examinations.

Our goal is to use modern deep learning methods deployed on a smartphone app to detect specific parts of the drawing, assess if they meet certain criteria (e.g. if a circle is fully closed), and display the examination results. The figure below illustrates our overall idea.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
We are specifically looking for an experienced app developer (Android) with knowledge of deploying deep learning models on smartphones.

Proficiency in Flutter, Kotlin, and/or Java is required as we believe some computations need to be done in native environments.

The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record in app development and the ability to deploy deep learning models, such as YOLO, and perform computer vision computations (e.g. perspective transform, circularity detection) on apps.

Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Pattern Recognition is also necessary, with the possibility of training the models themselves.
