    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Care Advocate Coordinator, UNLV Student Wellness - Jean Nidetch Care Center (FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE) [R0141994]

    ROLE of the POSITION


    The Care Advocate Coordinator exists to maintain the highest quality of service of supervision, training and development of the Certified Peer Victim Advocates.

    This includes undergraduate and graduate recruitment, facilitation of state-mandated Victim Advocacy Certification Training, and ongoing supervision and development.

    The Advocate Coordinator ensures advocacy is performed through a trauma-informed and healing-centered lens by providing preparation and support for advocacy meetings and holding space and debriefs for Peer Advocates after each meeting.

    In addition, the Care Advocate Coordinator ensures the achievement of advocacy milestones, and coordinates continued education opportunities and recognition events.

    The Care Advocate Coordinator is also primarily responsible for the coverage of the Care Line (advocacy hotline) and in-office advocacy coverage through scheduling shifts, effectively preparing Care Advocates for shifts, and providing client service back-up.


    The breakdown of essential functions are listed below:

    • 40% Management/Supervision of Volunteers: Provide coordination and oversight of the recruitment, training and retention of volunteer advocates; provide assistance to advocates; manage advocacy coverage; provide trauma-informed supervision; provide victim-survivors a safe and confidential place to access advocacy services

    Client Services:

    Collect and provide information on community and campus resource information and connection to staff and advocates; supervise client services performed by volunteer advocates; evaluate and enhance advocacy services.

    Education Activities:
    Facilitate the 45-hour volunteer advocacy training, ensuring advocates uphold all state mandated requirements for victim advocacy

    • 10% Program Evaluation and

    Data Tracking:

    Compile relevant data pertaining to programming; develop and coordinate assessment tools; ensure that project objectives are met and tracked.

    PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT


    The Care Center offers confidential support services, holistic healing workshops, campus education, and awareness events to members of the UNLV, NSC, and CSN communities impacted by sexual violence, relationship violence, family violence, and/or stalking.

    The Care Center operates from and anti-oppression framework to provide trauma-informed and healing-centered care.

    As such, candidates interested in this position must adhere to and support the anti-oppression vision and values upheld by the Care Center.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3-5 years of experience of anti-violence advocacy experience to include sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking, and accepted practices in violence prevention and 1-3 years of supervisory experience of professional staff or volunteers.
