    Buyer, Steel

    Reports to: Global Manager of Direct Procurement Job Summary:

    Buyer, Steel is responsible to:

    1. Drive sourcing excellence and budget improvements through continuous cost reductions for steel purchases
    2. Co-develop Commodity and Supplier strategies and source in alignment with those strategies
    3. Track, monitor, measure and continuously improve performance to kpi's and standards
    4. Support Purchasing teams in the plants
    5. Collaborate with cross-functional business partners such as Engineering and R&D to develop alternate materials and suppliers to support product development and our overall business growth targets and conduct related design competitions

    Required Qualifications:

    •  Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Business Administration / Supply Chain Management Field
    •  1+ years of direct Automotive Experience in Purchasing in a manufacturing setting
    •  1+ years' Experience with Fluids delivery systems and/or purchasing steel used in various automotive applications
    •  Able to read and understand technical drawings, including tool drawings, die designs, die process sheets
    •  Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
    •  Fluent in English (written and oral)
    •  Strong Negotiation and inter-personal skills, Critical Success Factors:
      •  Ability to coordinate activities across multiple global locations and cross functional groups
      •  Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
      •  Ability to achieve results, with a willingness to do "whatever it takes" to improve performance Responsibilities:
    •  Support the Purchasing functions across all Martinrea Fluids Group facilities for assigned commodities
    •  Support Buyers in our plants by providing the appropriate training and coaching
    •  Support high level Purchasing related functions:

    o Sourcing Suppliers
    o Negotiating favorable contracts
    o Resolving Commercial matters in a timely fashion o Supplier Management
    o Supporting Other Departments

    •  Responsible for legal and regulatory compliance including import/export requirements
    •  Enforces 100% on-time delivery requirements, 100% on-time / on-budget launches
    •  Maintain a positive contribution to quality, customer satisfaction and company profitability
    •  Responsibility for profitability for all purchased items as it relates to price variance, material defect disposition, quality levels, downtime and rework
      •  Supports Quality Control in resolving defective or unacceptable goods or services issues with Suppliers ensuring the supplier determines root cause and takes corrective action
      •  Co-Manages supplier rating system continuously evaluating supplier's delivery and quality performance
      •  Visit suppliers as needed to improve relations and assess their facilities in the areas of quality, financial stability and continuous improvement. Ensure updated assessments are conducted
      •  Work with under-performing suppliers to improve, or locate alternate supplier
    •  Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts and lease agreements within budget and within Corporate Commercial protocol per IATF16949 and ISO 14001 requirements and Purchasing Policies and Procedures
    •  Ensure Buyers are properly preparing purchase orders, requisitions and quote requests and responsible to ensure the

    correct documentation is supplied to all suppliers such as terms and conditions and other related documentation

    •  Leads and participates in achieving 3-5% net YOY continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities
    •  Ensure Purchasing Department maintains adequate procurement records such as copies of quotes, delivery records, approves invoices for payment
    •  Ensure proper compliance with Customs requirements such as on-time completion of all Certificates of Origin and handling customs including reporting requested by our customers
    •  Responsible to reduce obsolescence exposure by properly managing all build-outs and Engineering Changes
    •  Responsible to actively participate in any new programs or projects associated with the Fluids plants
    •  Support APQP meetings as required
    •  Prepares Management reports on the status of Purchasing functions and other reports as assigned
    •  Establish, track, monitor and drive results for KPI's, Corporate Standards, Policies and Procedures
    •  Leads Technical and Commercial Design Competitions with cross-functional teams
    •  Ensure all quoting activity includes multiple suppliers in the RFQ process to obtain pricing, availability and delivery at or below budget expectations, mirroring the requirements of our Customer's contract
    •  Provide continual assessment of the business climate, market conditions, monitoring supply risk, supplier health and develop countermeasures
    •  Support the development of Commodity and Supplier Strategies with cross-functional participation across the Fluids Group, emphasizing opportunities for commercial benefit
    •  Develops strategies which maximize global synergies, reduce overall capital costs and material costs and improve throughput, quality and delivery performance.
    •  Support Program Management and the Technical Group with the development and advancement of our Technical Specifications. Ensure Suppliers are capable to meet or exceed those requirements.
    •  Represent the Company in an ethical manner, being firm, fair and professional at all times
    •  Identify / develop alternate low cost Suppliers for key components which will help us improve our overall cost, and better position us to win new business
    •  Interface with Cost Estimating for feedback on Commodities requiring focus
    •  Interface with R&D for assistance on getting new Supplier / products approved including supporting a dual sourcing strategy in all areas possible
    •  Achieve Diverse Sourcing objectives
    •  Lead Communications between plants through weekly calls and Training Sessions and sharing of best practices
    •  Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement and cost reduction opportunities
    •  Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook and Purchasing/Materials P&P Working Conditions:
    •  Working in an office and plant environment
    •  Multiple demands, challenging, fast paced, team orientated environment
    •  Constant communication with employees, peers, management, corporate and customers
