Children's Learning Place is looking for an individual who is passionate about working and helping with the development and nutrition of children from 6 weeks old to 6 years old.

The position we are focusing on at the moment is a Kitchen Aide to prepare and portion out food per DCFS standards.

The position may also be responsible for helping with laundry.

This individual needs to be a team player, may be asked to step in where needed, and will have to meet all qualification per DCFS assistant teacher qualifications.

The position is for Monday through Friday and approximately 7:30am to 4/4:30pm

- Required by DCFS and

Health Department:

current physical with TB test on DCFS's medical form and showing proof of immunizations; 2- doses of MMRs and Tdap shot.



-Required: must have a high school diploma or GED. If hired, will need a copy or a copy of high school transcripts.

Duties:


  • Open to working with children from age: 6 weeks old to 6 years old
  • Prepping breakfast, lunch and snack daily, this includes cutting fruit.
  • Must wash hands and use gloves while handling food.
  • Taking out trash.
  • Following the menus set by Management and only changing if communicated due to supply.
  • Classrooms two and older should be provided with family style materials. (white serving bowls, serving spoons/tongs, small pitchers)
  • All classrooms should be served plates/bowls, cups, and utensils
  • Portioning out based on DCFS standards.
  • Monitoring for food allergies and restrictions and providing a substitute when needed.
  • Cutting fruit and vegetables for meals when they are or are not provided by the caterer.
  • Maintaining that food temp logs are completed daily.
  • All food should be dated upon receiving.
  • All food should be dated once opened and sealing with tape.
  • Rinsing, washing, and sanitizing dishes and all materials in the proper manner as outlined by the Chicago Department of Health and DCFS.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and orderly

This includes:
the walls, tables, shelves, inside and outside of the refrigerator, sinks, microwave, floor drains and sanitizing machine

  • Properly stocked with cleaning products and paper towels.
  • Monitoring use of food supply and making sure that it is all being used properly and not eaten by staff.
  • Checking/approving the shipment of food on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all is delivered and if not letting Management.
  • Dating and organizing food deliveries. Putting away all deliveries including but not limited to McKesson, UNFI, Costco, Staples
  • Using the FIFO system (first in first out)
  • Maintain communication with the Director and Assistant Director.
  • Help ensure a safe and loving environment for the children's benefit and for the parents' peace of mind.
  • Assist in supervision on all children at all times
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment
  • Assist in daily activities and cleaning and sanitizing toys and equipment
  • Washing, drying, returning items to classrooms.
  • Be a team player.
  • Work in any area that is needed.
  • Must participate in 15 hours of inservice training or off site training per calendar year.

  • Complete all trainings in a timely fashion
  • Be on time, respectful of others and be able to find things to keep yourself busy when there isn't much to do

Pay:
From $16.75 per hour
