    Description
    Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft.

    The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy.

    This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company's first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse.

    Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse - an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter. The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly. The Opportunity and How You'll Impact HermeusYou will lead improvement projects to ensure that safety, reliability, and process capability goals are achieved, maintained, and improvedYou will be a vital part of the relationship between our engineering and technician teamYou will provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in the manufacturing and integration of our current and next-generation vehiclesYou will drive root-cause analysis and corrective action recommendations/implementationYou will apply process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g.

    value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increase production rates; and remove waste from complex processesYou will manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively communicating with and influencing stakeholdersYou will train technicians, engineers, and leaders on best-in-class operations practices by leading process improvement workshops; providing training and information briefs on key topics; and personally, demonstrating by implementing solutions in the areaYou will work with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and test requirements, then implement in a rapidly evolving production environmentYou will ideate and implement tooling and test solutions, enabling high-quality hardwareYou will be responsible for the manufacturability and introduction into the rate manufacturing environment of assigned productsYou will contribute to design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacturability, design for testability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, etcYou will be the primary point of contact for the production of non-conforming products, troubleshooting, root cause, failure investigations, and corrective actionsYou will work on process and tooling development/validation for new productsYou will drive the optimization of assembly and test proceduresYou will prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production including assembly procedures, test procedures, standard operating procedures, schematic diagrams, bills of materials, suitable alternate parts lists, and mechanical drawingsYou will lead continuous improvement efforts of established productAbout You / Valued ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or a technical discipline5+ years of experience in design and or production of electronics hardware systemsExperience with electro-mechanical assembly and subassembliesExperience with end to end printed circuit board fabricationExperience with high power electronics and/or motor driversDemonstrated professional experience providing engineering and manufacturing support for the production of highly complex electronic productsExperience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional teamHands-on experience with passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardwareExperience implementing design for manufacturing and design for test feedbackStrong communication skills and ability to read and provide feedback on technical documentsAbility to work overtime and weekends as neededCapable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated teamAbility to make appropriate assumptions and perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals to create rationale for clear recommendationsDemonstrated experience with CAD and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Experience in control and monitoring of complex automated systems and risk assessment/reduction of the systemKnowledge of ERP systems, work order creation/management and BOM structuresDesired MultipliersExperience in a startup development environmentExperience working in a flight, aviation, aerospace development programExperience transitioning parts from first article to production$150,000 - $175,000 a year#LI-OnsiteWe encourage you to apply even if you have skillsets and experience outside of our current needs as we're always open to connect and discuss future opportunities.
