- Responsible for the build and inspection processes for the structural assembly and testing of primary and secondary structures
- Developing, qualifying, and refining manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery, and driving continuous improvement across these areas
- Collaborating with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale production challenges. Providing training to others on operations and process improvement
- Resolving product non-conformances and collaborating with the quality team to implement root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in the manufacturing and integration of current and next-generation vehicles
- Identifying, planning, and executing on capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand
- Developing and refining floor layouts, capacity models, and product flow analysis to ensure on-time delivery of the vehicle as a whole
- Applying process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increasing production rates; and removing waste from complex processes
- Managing and executing to tight deadlines
- Working with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and test requirements, then implementing them
- Ideating and implementing tooling and test solutions, enabling high-quality built hardware
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in aviation or aerospace manufacturing environment
- Being comfortable with working in a production environment for extended periods
- Ability to make appropriate assumptions and perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals to create rationale for clear recommendations
- Experience with high volume manufacturing, or design for manufacture and product development life cycle, or quality tools including root cause and corrective action, PFMEAs, QMS and process auditing and statistical analysis of quality metrics
- Experience with metallic manufacturing techniques and equipment for processes such as CNC fabrication, welding (orbital tube and TIG), precision cleaning, forming, inspection, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with CAD and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Working knowledge of Python or other coding languages
- Experience in control and monitoring of complex automated systems and risk assessment/reduction of the system
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work overtime and weekends if required
- Experience in a start-up or fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a flight, aviation, aerospace development program
- Experience transitioning parts from first article to production
- Experience working with Inconel and Titanium
- Experience working with 3D-printed parts, castings, or forgings
