"The German Railway is one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 professions across the country who want to become even better with us.

Starting on September 1st, 2024, we are looking for you for a 3-year apprenticeship as a locomotive shunter (railway employee in the operations department, specializing in train driver transport) in freight transport (m/f/d) for DB Cargo AG at the Bremerhaven location. The vocational school is located in Bremen.
What to expect in your apprenticeship:
  • You will drive a diesel locomotive to nearby customers, such as various companies, and pick up the goods to be transported
  • Shunting of freight cars onto the corresponding direction tracks
  • You will put together trains by coupling and uncoupling individual cars
  • You will learn the rules for safe railway operations and become familiar with your vehicle inside and out
  • Checking the functionality of freight trains and securing the loads are also part of your tasks
  • You will start and end your workday at your regional marshalling yard
