    Job Information
    The Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts seeks a Studio Trumpet non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor to direct the FIU Brass Choir. This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position that begins in August 2024.

    Qualifications:

    · Master's degree in music (MM) required (Doctorate preferred)

    · Experience in studio classical trumpet

    · Experience/Expertise in conducting Brass Choir and Chamber Music

    · Demonstrate successful teaching experience at the collegiate and/or secondary school levels.

    · Demonstrate successful recruiting, retention, and mentoring of students from diverse backgrounds in a major metropolitan area.

    · Mentoring students from traditionally underrepresented groups to provide the guidance needed to help ensure their academic experience is a welcoming and positive one.

    · A dynamic leader with an interest in building relationships, working collaboratively with School of Music colleagues and community organizations.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in studio trumpet (classical) teaching, conducting the Brass Choir, teaching Brass Methods, excellence in teaching at the collegiate and/or secondary school levels, successful recruiting, retention, mentoring students from diverse backgrounds in a major metropolitan area. This position requires a dynamic leader with an interest in building relationships, and working closely with School of Music colleagues and community organizations.

    Responsibilities:

    · Recruit and retain a classical trumpet studio.

    · Oversee all artistic and administrative aspects of the FIU Brass Choir

    · Teach Brass Methods

    · Teaching other classes within areas of the candidate's expertise

    · Departmental and university level service

    · Partnership and Collaboration with University and Community organizations

    Salary:

    Salary is commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.
