About Randolph Fein:
I see teaching as involving a reciprocal relationship between teachers and students-I believe that teachers have duties to their students and that students have responsibilities to their teachers.
It is my responsibility as a teacher to provide students with the following: an environment conducive to learning, the knowledge that will help them be successful in achieving their lives goals, materials, opportunities, and feedback that will help them learn and help in becoming and remaining motivated to be successful both in their studies and in applying their knowledge to problem-solving in their lives outside of school.
Students have duties to their professors, fellow students, and themselves. These duties support me in fulfilling my obligations to students. Thus, it is the student's responsibility to support the teacher and fellow students by being tolerant of different points of view, prepared for class, willing to work hard to complete course activities, and willing to bring their life experiences into the class to enrich discussions. I also feel it is crucial to make it a point to incorporate current events into every lesson.
A willingness to listen and answer questions and timely constructive feedback is crucial to maintaining high retention rates. I look forward to learner feedback and the opportunity for students to evaluate me as an instructor. I continually strive to improve my teaching practices and to grow as an educator and citizen of our world. Learner feedback is essential to this process. I learn a little more about my learners, the content, and myself in every class I teach. The most important lesson I have learned through teaching is to receive as much as I give.
