- Follows protocolsrequested by prescribing medical staff.
- Selects equipment for use according to specifications of examination to achieve optimal results.
- Confirms patient identification, order and history to ensure orders are per required specifications.
- Sees patients to exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment.
- Explains procedures to patients to secure maximum cooperation to obtain superior exam during imaging.
- Monitors patient during the procedure to ensure safety and comfort.
- Utilizes and adjusts equipment controls according to area to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
- Performs imaging and related duties with a high degree of quality and speed.
- Evaluates images for technical quality, effectively demonstrates the anatomic area of interest and assures proper identification is recorded.
- Evaluates images for technical quality assurance factors including image laterality marking and annotation as required by protocol.
- Documents and enters patient information using EHR, as necessary.
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and is responsible in arranging for repairs as needed.
- Cleans and sterilizes work area and equipment and patient exam area.
- Maintains appropriate supplies on a daily basis.
- Maintain strong working/collaborative relationships within facility to ensure flow and continuity of services.
- Other job related duties as assigned to ensure department operation.
- Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, rules, customs and traditions of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
- Knowledge of expectations of medical office standards, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Knowledge of physiology and cross-sectional human anatomy for both adult and pediatric care.
- Knowledge of instrument identification, radiology procedures and equipment
- Skill with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Skill with operating complex medical equipment and computerized instruments.
- Skill in operating and cleaning of ultrasound equipment and conduct routine maintenance checks
- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, medical staff, or others in a professional manner
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of clinically trained service providers.
- Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures and ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive patient information.
- Ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Salt River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Successful completion of an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical sonographers exam (ARDMS) required
- May be required to work outside normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

DefinitionDefinition:
Under Direction of a Medical Imaging Manager, the Ultrasound Technician's primary duty isto provide all imaging functions related to ultrasound.
Performs high quality procedures that require diligence, initiative and independent judgment.Duties include and are not limited to performing routine image studies, monitoring the quality of studies, and ability to observe and report the need for maintenance service on equipment.
This position may require providing technical and imaging support at the River People's Health Center.This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt.

Education and Experience:
Associate of Science degree in diagnostic medical sonography from anARRT-accredited radiology programrequired
Equivalency:
