We are looking for a *Material Tester* or *Physics Laboratory Technician* (m/f/d) to strengthen our team in the department "Tribology and Wear Protection" in Berlin-Steglitz at the earliest possible date.

**Pay grade 6 TVöD
Permanent employment
Full-time/part-time possible

The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) is a scientific-technical federal authority based in Berlin.

Your tasks:


  • Sample preparation and execution of friction and wear tests, particularly in the field of hydrogen and natural gas technology (including LNG)
  • Conducting strength, material fatigue, and aging tests in hydrogen and natural gas environments
  • Operation and adaptation of software for data acquisition
  • Evaluation of test results and presentation in tables and diagrams
  • Determination of wear volumes using tactile and optical methods
  • Measurement and visualization of surface topographies and wear profiles using optical methods
  • Metallographic examinations and photographic documentation of test specimens
  • Recording of results in databases
  • Maintenance and calibration of tribometers and ensuring operational readiness
