    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The position will also include project management of studies within General Internal Medicine and Population Health. The position entails handling the day-to-day administrative and management issues related to ongoing research studies in coordination with the Principal

    Investigator/leadership


    team, including supervision of project staff; project fiscal management; coordinating with project collaborators; overseeing accurate project implementation; ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements; development of study protocols and operating procedures; managing research databases; serving as a study liaison with the IRB; and assistance with grant applications.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading research projects to satisfy a defined goals or scientific objective.

    Research projects will include small-to-large funded and unfunded studies in the Division of General Internal Medicine and evaluations of programs within Population Health Services.


    Duties include the following:
    Staff Management
    Responsible for effective personnel management including training, directing, mentoring and instilling a commitment to quality and excellence. Coordinates resources and work load to achieve objectives and strategies.
    Maintains

    effective/appropriate

    staffing by monitoring employee turnover, overtime, and absenteeism. Coordinates and maintains the monthly schedule for project coverage.
    Monitors

    productivity/performance


    to identify and evaluate strengths and training opportunities; Conducts employee performance evaluations and disciplines when appropriate to include termination, with appropriate supportive documentation.

    Works with Human Resources and department managers on the selection of qualified employees for employment following all policies, guidelines, and applicable laws.

    Encourages staff and personally advances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops and maintaining knowledge of industry standards and practices.

    Operations Management
    Interacts with sponsors, including internal and external funders.
    Coordinates efforts of faculty, collaborators, analysts, and staff.
    Ensures study implementation, operations, goals and IRB regulations are being followed accurately and within IRB and study guidelines.
    Oversee data collection procedures and review instruments to ensure quality control. Acquires and maintains knowledge of systems and databases
    Finance Administration
    Create annual operating project budgets, monitor actual results in accordance with budget and funding source regulations (Federal, State, Grantors.). Forecast fiscal operational needs.
    Monitor all grant expenditures and disbursements for adherence to budget guidelines and award notices.
    Participates in grant renewal processes. Prepare, administer and ensure timely grant submissions. Assist investigators in developing and preparing grant proposals, including drafting, editing, and preparing back-up data documentation for the submission.

    Oversees all aspects of general accounting, accounts payable, miscellaneous billing and receivables, account reconciliations, payroll coordination with BMC, grant funding, etc.

    Project Management
    Coordinates/facilitates

    the research project management life cycle, including initiation, development, and implementation of various projects.

    Coordinates research teams, and manages research project timelines, to ensure research milestones are completed within the specified and in line with annual objectives.

    Interfaces with IRB and drafts IRB protocols, amendments, continuing reviews, etc.

    Prepare substantive aspects of research grant proposals and IRB applications, especially literature and database searches, and assist with conducting analyses for various other projects.

    Meets regularly with PIs, research staff, study teams, and Population Health Services teams to collect and communicate business and research requirements, and set expectations for research-related work.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree a plus.

    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum of three years of experience in managing a complex, multi-faceted program, including fiscal oversight. Minimum of two years of personnel leadership experience.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    Leadership ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff.
    Must have experience in research, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant applications.
    Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
    Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    Extensive knowledge of and experience working with computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
    Familiarity with web applications and relational databases and knowledge of SQL, HTML, PHP, or similar languages strongly desirable.
    This position is funded by a 2 year grant. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.
