- Assists with providing patient care: record vital signs; discuss and document chief health concerns.
- Perform and record specialized testing included but not limited to EKGs, urine HCG, and urine drug screening.
- Prepare and safely administer medications, including but not limited to immunizations, flu shots, and other injections.
- Maintain clean and orderly medication room and administration area.
- Perform nursing type duties specific to the department. For example, may apply dressings, and other wound care as directed.
- Documents patient encounters, resource development efforts, and other interventions for each patient, including date, time, and signature in the electronic medical record.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights and privacy
- Utilizes hospital's policies and standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital's mission and goals.
- Performs other duties assigned or as necessary.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the patient populations served.
- Ability to communicate effectively (listen and build trust) and be non-judgmentally with people of diverse socio-economic status, ethnic, sexual orientation, language and cultural backgrounds.
- Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with the various members of the health care team, patients and families.
- Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
- Ability to be self-directive and demonstrate initiative in addressing responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to utilize appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Competence with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic databases expected.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care under the direction of a Physician, mid-level Practitioner or Registered Nurse.
