- Perform detailed fundamental credit analysis, including an assessment of value/collateral coverage, default risk, potential recoveries in event of default, credit strengths, major risks/mitigants, etc.
- Assess relative value within an issuer's capital structure, across issuers within an industry, and relative to the broader leverage loan and high yield markets.
- Basic understanding of the main "credit drivers" in covered industries, including a knowledge of the active high yield issuers in such industries and competitive threats.
- Analyze the risk in credit documents, including credit agreements, indentures, etc.
- Create and maintain detailed financial models and credit memorandums, including updates to credit analysis based on earnings announcements, company specific news, industry developments, etc.
- Actively engage with sell-side including salespeople, capital markets teams, and research teams; attend high yield and industry conferences as appropriate.
- Conduct diligence where necessary, including calls with sponsors and management teams, expert consultants, suppliers, customers, etc.
- Regularly present credit analysis and recommendations to the credit committee.
- Communicate credit updates on an ongoing basis to the investment team.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- MBA, CFA designation, or prior bank credit training/desk analyst role preferred.
- 7-12+ years of experience analyzing leveraged loans and high-yield corporate bonds; will consider slightly less experience depending on previous background.
- Credit and analytical skills across a wide variety of industries a positive.
- Experience managing credit recommendations in CLO structures a positive.
- Existing relationship network with sell-side beneficial.
- Prior experience with stressed/distressed credit situations a positive.
- Outstanding initiative and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to be part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly proficient in Excel and Bloomberg.

Since its operational launch over four years ago, the company has raised seven CLOs, bringing total AUM to $3.2 billion. A recent minority equity investment by Sagard, a global multi-strategy alternative asset manager and subsidiary of Power Corporation of Canada, in March 2024 has accelerated the company's growth trajectory, with target new issuance of three CLOs per annum. HalseyPoint's primary focus has been and remains managing broadly syndicated leveraged loans and high yield debt in CLOs and other loan-focused investment vehicles. HalseyPoint is looking to add a senior credit analyst to its existing investment team. This is a unique opportunity to play an integral role with a rapidly growing firm. The senior credit analyst will be part of a small team of credit analysts supporting the investment decision-making process at HalseyPoint by performing detailed credit analysis on both new issue and secondary investment opportunities, making credit recommendations on such opportunities, and monitoring/making recommendations on existing portfolio positions.
This role will require working on-site at HalseyPoint's Los Angeles area office (specifically, El Segundo, CA a minimum of three (3) days per week. Team members have the option to work remotely on certain set days as determined by management up to two (2) times per week; in all cases, the ability to work remotely on such days will be subject to business and investor demands and such demands may require team members to physically be present in the office on days that would otherwise be designated for optional remote work.
