Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.

The Datacenter Engineering Principle Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects.

This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
  • Ability to work with other technical and nontechnical groups in a fastpaced environment and do so with an even temperament.
  • Ability to be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailedoriented with an effective work ethic.

Qualifications:


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing crossfunctional and/or crossteam projects.
  • 3+ years of experience working on mission critical or hightech projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or hightech industry.
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as design of construction project or team manager.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field.
  • Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
  • Ability to lead teams of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
Technical Program Management IC- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
