- This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
- Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years' experience in energy procuremento OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years' experience in energy procuremento OR equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Develops contract frameworks and strategies that span markets, competitors, and emerging technologies. Executes and advises other teams on analyses of supplier pricing, cost, capabilities, and capacity, and uses the results to recommend and develop multi-year sourcing strategies for the most complex and/or undefined product categories.
- Develops, maintains, and executes on multi-year sourcing strategies for multiple technologies of varying maturity levels that are optimized to ensure reasonable cost and sufficient continuity of supply while meeting performance metrics.
- Ensures that supply agreements are resilient to disruptions and that mitigation plans are in place across multiple categories to address issues with permitting and licensing, manufacturing, geography/geopolitics, seasonality, financial health, performance, and/or major unavoidable events (e.g., climate events, COVID-19).
- Leads a team working to ensure that arrangements are robust to disruptions and that mitigation plans are in place that can address issues with seasonality, financial health, performance, and/or major unavoidable events (e.g., climate events, COVID-19). Provides guidance to team members on risk management strategies across product categories and best practices, and provides feedback on mitigation plans by sharing best practices and innovative solutions. Serves as a primary point of escalation for leading the resolution of supply chain continuity issues.
- Leads a team to develop recommendations for investments in new technologies and/ or contract structures. Provides guidance to team members to influence the adoption of technologies across multiple categories based on needs of Microsoft products.
- Leads and defines comprehensive, actionable strategies for contract and price negotiation for complex product categories cross-functionally, ensuring that that price, capacity, and strategic business needs are met, risks are identified and mitigated, and long-term cost reduction opportunities are realized. Where appropriate, ensures compliance with Microsoft's requirements for cross-functional engagements with suppliers. Makes and delivers to budget commitments.
- Serves as Microsoft's central point of contact for suppliers across the nuclear energy space: Defines and executes on processes to enable and develop new suppliers, conducts business review discussions, and suggests and manages suppliers against market-relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) for evaluating financial health, performance, and compliance with Microsoft business requirements (e.g., security, social responsibility, payment terms).
- Facilitates early technical engagements with cross-functional teams to determine viability of emerging technologies.
- Manages internal cross-functional partnerships, defines processes and governance for on-boarding and managing supplier partnerships, shares best practices and drives opportunities to improve upon processes, influences near- and long-term sourcing decisions by clearly articulating technical and business implications (e.g., structuring, pricing), seeks to align investments with short- and long-term supply needs, and serves as a point of escalation to resolve supply issues and ensure continuity of supply in alignment with product and/or service roadmaps.

Our focus is sourcing and contracting renewable and carbon-free energy to meet a growing need for energy globally.
We are looking for a Director, Commercial Structuring, Nuclear & Carbon-Free Energy to lead commercial efforts securing new energy supply within the Cloud Operations + Innovation Team. This position will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, coordinating due diligence with the office of the CTO and developing commercial structures to help accelerate the development of new nuclear resources globally.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 12+ years' experience in energy procurement
Sourcing Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
