SUMMARY The Water Treatment Maintenance Helper is responsible for various entry-level duties related to the appearance and maintenance of water treatment facilities around the city. Performs manual, and semi-skilled labor while maintaining accurate daily documentation of accomplished work done for the day. Also, does related work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.

  • Cleans, paints, mops, mows lawn, shovels and maintains grounds around all well houses, pumping stations, filtration plants.
  • Works around hazardous and nonhazardous chemicals at all station locations.
  • Works in and around noisy environments by industrial equipment in operation.
  • Must be able to preform assigned job duties with mínimal supervision.
  • Must have and wear protective boots and appropriate work attire every day.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Preforms other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or delegated.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma, equivalent education or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the essential duties.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Working knowledge of City or County government a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools used with grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge and capable of servicing requirement for small mechanical equipment, i.e. weed eater, lawn mowers, and power washer.
  • Skilled in the operation of various hand and power tools, preforming general maintenance, possesses the ability to communicate sufficiently enough to exchange and convey information and can receive and follow work instructions.
  • Knowledge of loading and unloading of trailers used to tow equipment around.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
Valid Driver's License required.


EQUIPMENT:

Pickup Truck, Snow Blower, Mower, Trimmers, Custodial tools, and miscellaneous hand tools, all safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
