    This position offices in-person, on campus


    ROLE SUMMARY
    The Director of Academics serves as the instructional and operational leader of the academic program.

    The Director of Academics cultivates and sustains the school's mission by demonstrating a mature Christian faith and a heart for inspiring and working with students, parents, and faculty.

    The Director of Academics provides a clear vision for student learning built on a Biblical worldview and cultivates strong relationships with various stakeholders (parents, students, faculty, and staff).

    The Director of Academics possesses a collaborative attitude toward decision-making, excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, excellent conflict resolution skills, and a relational approach to leadership.

    As a member of the Cabinet team, the Director of Academics is responsible for the evaluation and development of faculty, analysis and collection of student performance data to improve and support student achievement, and coordination of the efforts of the entire faculty.

    Faculty Development and Evaluation

    Responsible for direct oversight of faculty culture and evaluations including goal setting aligned with the department operating plan, midyear reviews, and end of year reviews
    Serve as the primary agent in hiring, training, mentoring and evaluating faculty members
    Support and facilitate the onboarding of new faculty members and promote a successful transition to the Valor culture and community
    Oversee and provide academic specific professional development opportunities and coaching
    Provide support and guidance to faculty members regarding behavioral or academic challenges of students
    Ensure faculty seamlessly and deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into curriculum and instruction
    Strategic Planning and Oversight of Academic Departments

    Develop and execute a yearly Academics Operating Plan that sets priorities, advances the work of the departments, addresses the needs of students, and ensures work toward overall school initiatives
    Evaluate, establish, and manage appropriate budgets for academic departments
    Ensure the maintenance of educational standards established by the State of Colorado and those organizations that examine and accredit Valor
    Effectively implement Valor educational standards across the curriculum and direct the activities and initiatives of the Academic Planning Team
    Direct and manage a comprehensive calendar of school academic activities and events
    Serve as a conduit of interdisciplinary collaboration and programming across all academic departments
    Analyze student-performance data and implement specific strategies to address curriculum or instructional areas in need of improvement
    Provides leadership and coordination for academic support efforts across campus and provides leadership to academic support staff and tutors
    Collaborate with necessary stakeholders in preparing and maintaining a master school schedule and the assignment of teachers to classes
    Engage in ongoing communication and collaboration with Valor team members in order to strengthen student performance and support
    Coordinate the review, development, digitization, and revision of all curriculum documents and accreditation requirements including department outcomes, course outcomes, and curriculum guides
    Provide an annual "State of Academics" report to school leadership and Board members
    Faculty Development and Evaluation

    Leadership and oversight of Endorsement Programming

    Develop, execute, and maintain the key programming elements of the endorsement programs
    Assemble and meet with key stakeholders and leaders who can inform strategy and foster support
    Develop and direct the co-curricular elements of the academic endorsements
    Develop student recognition opportunities and events Collaboration and Communication with the School Leadership Team

    As a member of the Cabinet leadership team, the Director of Academics is particularly responsible for defining, cultivating and leading our Christian community.

    Cabinet leaders must not only comply with standards but also affirm additional distinctive Christian beliefs of our community in the Christian Community Policy or otherwise as determined by the board of directors.

    Work collaboratively with Cabinet leaders in Arts, Athletics, Discovery, Student Life, and Spiritual Formation to discuss and provide action on critical issues facing the school and to engage the community in school-wide initiatives that propel the school forward in alignment with a distinctively Christian mission and vision
    Serve as the communication liaison between faculty and Cabinet leadership teamParticipate in open dialogue with team members to ensure that gaps are filled in with knowledge and trust is promoted across pillar areas
    Seek counsel and meet regularly with the Associate Head of School and other Cabinet leadership members
    Periodically engage with the board of directors to seek input on strategic planning and provide monthly information about the work of the academic department

    Invest in the lives of students through Life Groups and other mentorship opportunities
    Engage parents and the community in all areas of academics through oversight of consistent communication and engagement
    Collaborate with the Director of Student Life to appropriately monitor and address academic and behavioral concerns
    Support Academic Advancement and Development Initiatives

    Engage with the parents and key stakeholders to improve the student experience in academics and support a flourishing student culture
    Meet with potential donors upon request who are interested in supporting academic initiatives and programs
    Serve Wholeheartedly as an Exceptional Teammate

    Uphold and embody Valor's culture as set forth in the Valor Culture Document
    Model servant leadership, grace and love in all relationships and interactions
    Develop relationships with colleagues with goals of teamwork, relational unity and spiritual growth

    Under leadership of the Director of Academics, the Academic Departments will provide Valor students with outstanding learning opportunities and experiences.

    Faculty will excel in providing sound curriculum, engaging instructional practices, and meaningful endorsement program experiences.
    Academic programming will provide cohesive partnership and collaboration with various stakeholders.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    Advanced degree in education or closely related field
    A master teacher with a minimum of 5-10 years teaching experience
    Experience in academic leadership and curriculum development, design, and review
    Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
    Full understanding of and alignment with the Valor culture
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Management/supervisory experience preferred in an educational setting
