    Summary:

    The Birthing Center (TBC) Flex RN will be scheduled 48 hours per week. Scheduled hours may be flexed down up to 12 hours per week based on hospital need.

    The TBC Flex RN reports directly to the TBC Nurse Manager. The TBC Nursing Manager will collaborate with TBC Flex RN on schedules competencies orientation performance evaluation etc. The TBC Flex RN works their assigned every other weekend and every other holiday.

    The TBC Flex RN will follow the same holiday requirements as regular staff nurses.

    Eligibility:

    Non-exempt non-supervisory employees (employees paid on an hourly basis) who commit to a flex schedule of 48 hours per week.

    Payment: $65.00 per hour (unit-based)

    Weekly Overtime-Eligible

    Health /Dental Insurance-Eligible: Employee contribution rates for health and dental insurance will be in accordance with full-time employee rates.

    Life/Disability Insurance-Eligible: Employee contribution rates for Life and Disability will be in accordance with full-time employee rates if applicable.

    Retirement Program-Eligible

    Flex Time Off: TBC Flex RN hours may be flexed down by the staffing office and/or the Nursing Supervisor to adequately staff the hospital. TBC Flex RN hours will not be flexed down more than 12 hours for the week unless voluntary time off is offered.

    Voluntary Time Off: Voluntary Time Off defined as time off offered due to decrease in hospital census may be taken in rotation without pay.

    Scheduled Unpaid Time Off:

    Requests for time off must be followed as outlined in Staffing/Scheduling Policy # 0101 and Holiday Policy HR 2.10

    TBC Flex RNs are eligible to take 192 hours off per year after 90 days of employment. Hours flexed down will not be deducted from the 192 hours allowed for requested time off.

    Other information:

    Graduate of a school of nursing Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Conformity to the Code of Professional Nurses. Understanding of the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Minimum of 3 years of inpatient Labor and Delivery experience required.

    Current BLS ACLS and NRP required. Completion of recent AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Course preferred if not recent expectation will be to complete AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Course within 6 months of hire. Certification preferred.
