What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers Claim Business Intelligence and Analytics is looking for an experienced Vice President interested in leading a large data engineering and data management team.

This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate highly skilled data professionals while delivering significant value to our business partners.

For data engineering, we support data scientists who leverage artificial intelligence, Python, and Cloud computing. Data engineers wrangle the most complex data sources and drive the MLOps implementations. For data management, we ensure excellent data governance in areas like data quality, metadata, lineage, and reference data.

This position will report into the head of Claim Business Intelligence and Analytics and involve significant interaction with Claim senior management.

A highly qualified individual will also have demonstrated the ability to work across a large organization to share and develop best practices for people, process, and technology development.

What Will You Do?

  • Drive the longterm strategy around analytic data products, movement, data consumption patterns, and persistence capability.
  • Set the data engineering strategy to ensure secure, supported and scalable solutions.
  • Present recommendations to executives and negotiates and influences executive leadership decisions.
  • Oversee and direct the development of functional business plans with direct impact on company revenue, expense, and growth.
  • Act as a "trusted advisor" across the company and are recognized as an external expert.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field or equivalent
  • Fifteen or more years of related work experience
  • Eight or more years of leading teams.
  • Industry level expertise of capabilities and direction of technology coupled with an indepth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of business environments necessary to drive the functional strategy.
What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation.
  • Nine years of data engineering or equivalent experience
  • Three years of previous management experience.
