Description
The Senior Accounting Associate is involved in all aspects of the Accounting (Fiscal Services) department for a large, multi-faceted not-for-profit Agency serving people with a variety of behavioral health and social service needs.
CHD is a $160 million agency that is funded by federal, Massachusetts, and Connecticut contracts as well as third party payers.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accounting Associate is responsible for the following activities:Supports development and documentation of financial transaction processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensures compliance with GAAP principles
Prepares error-free monthly financial reports (balance sheet, statement of activities, statement of cash flows) as well as periodic reports on financial performance to inform strategic decision making process
Performs research and analysis, maintains the general ledger, and performs account reconciliations
Assists with external audit, tax returns and governmental reports preparation
Makes recommendations based on analysis of status of reserves, accrual and contingencies
Assists divisional and executive leaders with interpreting financial information
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and minimum of five years of direct experience. Public accounting and financial experience in a not-for-profit setting is preferred. This is an on-site position based in Springfield, MA.
