- Performs immittance and emissions testing
- Conducts auditory evoked potential assessments for patients
- Assesses hearing sensitivity and quality and provides patients with information regarding the results
- Dispenses hearing aids and fits devices based on patient's physiology and needs
- Consults with physicians and other professionals about patient's future needs and current progress
- Maintains client records at all stages including initial evaluation and discharge
- Documents all professional and clinical reports and conducts research on auditory topics
- Utilizes local, state, and national regulations to make decisions regarding service eligibility
- Participates in conferences, forums, and training sessions to remain uptodate with or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods
- Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
- Performs audiological evaluation, hearing aid coverage and electrophysiology to one or more area clinic locations
- Compiles test results and information to make appropriate recommendations and/or referrals
- Actively participates in or hosts specialtyspecific and other audiological meetings
- Documents all professional and clinical reports in a timely manner
- May see, evaluate and fit patients of all ages for hearing aids
- Takes addon audiological evaluations and hearing aid evaluation appointments as needed, from the ENT clinic
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations
- Will be expected to support clinical education activities including but not limited to onboarding, observerships or students
- May be expected to flex to provide coverage at other clinics in the absence of a colleague
- May be asked to onboard at multiple clinics
- Implementation of Visiting Professor training
- Maintains clinical education manual
- Maintains accurate and uptodate records on training
- Maintains up to date knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of Audiology
- Executes training curriculum set by the Chief
- Promotes excellence in education across the disciplines
- Maintains current and up to date training metrics
- Acts as a representative of the Department within and outside the institution, to stakeholders, academic institutions, educational organizations, training programs, and the public.
- Works collaboratively with department leadership to identify opportunities for ACE faculty development
- Facilitates quality learning experiences for trainees
- Responsible for organizing training schedules
- Evaluates and monitors quality of training program
- Actively engages faculty in clinical education planning, implementation, and assessment.
- Identifies when performance improvement is needed for both trainees and preceptors.
- The Director serves as a liaison between the University of Miami and the trainee's institution. The director also establishes and upholds program standards and facilitates ongoing development of, and communication with trainee institutions and clinical faculty.
- Works with chief to facilitate the application process
- Works with the department residency program director to maintain application records and institutional records
- Maintains records and oversight of preceptor training and CEU records
- Provides regular training and feedback to preceptors
- Fosters a safe learning environment that upholds the training standards of the Department of Otolaryngology and the University of Miami.
- Manages/oversees 3month onboarding process for new audiologists, and first year regular chart reviews
- AuD or PhD in Audiology required
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical teaching experience required
- Knowledge of and ability to apply auditory principles, procedures, and techniques
- Knowledge of auditory agents used in patient treatments
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat hearing or speech disorders

JOB DESCRIPTION:
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CLINICAL AUDIOLOGY AND DIRECTOR OF AUDIOLOGY CLINICAL EDUCATION
The Associate Professor and Director of Audiology Clinical Education (ACE) directs and maintains training and onboarding programs within the Division of Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami.
Primary responsibilities are to direct, plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor goals and activities on behalf of the ACE program, and in coordination with the chief and clinical teaching faculty, while ensuring the highest quality in education standards.
The Director leads all projects and duties as directed by the chief, related to the ACE. Mentorship and guidance on tasks is not needed; the Director can be fully trusted to complete tasks without oversight.Clinically, The Associate Professor and Director of ACE clinically administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment.
Primary specialties are Diagnostics and Hearing Aids.The Associate Professor and Director for this role must be prepared and comfortable in running a clinic independently, and may occasionally see several pediatric patients.
Travel to satellite clinics is required. Bilingual is preferred. Flexibility to cover for different audiology specialties in the absence of a co-worker is required.CLINICAL

◦ Creates custom schedules for Visiting Professorships
◦ Meets regularly with students and trainees
◦ Meets regularly with trainee representatives to provide reporting on skill attainment and performance within the program
◦ Meets at least quarterly with clinical preceptors
◦ Provides reports on monitoring to the program director
◦ Reviews affiliation agreements
◦ Provides institutions with state regulatory requirements prior to application period
◦ Reviews policies and procedures of the ACE with institutions
◦ Enforces timely completion by members of the Onboarding Committee, of Master Competencies form for each onboarding provider.
◦ Leads regular chart reviews at monthly intervals following successful completion of provider onboarding period.
