Description
POSITION:
Background Investigator - Must reside within a 35-mile radius of Bethesda, MD
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct federal background investigations and prepare reports following Federal Investigative Standards.
- Work on cases in the designated area and travel to various locations for investigations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of investigation experience at the federal, state, or local level within the last five years.
- Experience with NBIB/DCSA/FIS.
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass background checks and necessary training.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person subject interviews to gather factual information.
- Obtain information from various sources to compile investigation reports.
- Travel to different locations for investigations.
- Maintain relationships with managers and organizations.
- Adapt to changing environments and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Work hours based on case availability in the area.
- Possible temporary duty assignments in other regions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience and Education:
- OPM investigator training preferred.
- Prior experience supporting government contracts.
- Degree in Criminal Justice or related field desirable.
