    Class Description:
    An Investigative Specialist I plays a crucial role in assisting investigations at the Baltimore Police Department. Responsibilities include conducting administrative and criminal investigations, collecting evidence, analyzing case documentation, and recommending investigative courses of action. This role also involves drafting case correspondences, performing statistical analysis, and working on-site under various conditions.

    Employees in this position adhere to a typical workweek, which may involve unconventional hours and challenging situations. An Investigative Specialist I must be prepared to encounter hazardous environments and potential confrontations in the line of duty.

    About the Job:
    As an Investigative Specialist I, you will contribute to critical investigations conducted by the Baltimore Police Department. Your role will involve analyzing case data, collecting evidence, and drafting reports to support criminal investigations. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that presents unique challenges and requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
    • High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of investigative experience
    • Additional education in Criminal Justice can substitute experience
    • Valid driver's license required

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficiency in investigative methods and procedures
    • Strong communication and writing skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure
    • Skill in conducting interviews and eliciting cooperation
    • Capacity to establish effective working relationships
