    Position Overview
    The Desktop Support Specialist provides all levels of IT support for end user issues/requests and manages the new user setup and configuration process on desktop/laptop computers to ensure that all user hardware and software are functioning properly.
    This position is part of a collaborative team that provides technical support to Old Second's employee base across all locations. Essential responsibilities include providing solutions to work orders, completing project-based technical assignments including upgrades, rollouts, and other new initiatives, and participating in identifying opportunities for improvement to ensure system reliability. This position will also provide technical guidance to the Desktop Support team while taking on both standard support duties (Desktop Support work orders/field work) as well as desktop engineering duties (Using SCCM Application deployment with MSI's, etc). Will work closely with the Desktop Support Manager.
    Essential Job Functions

    • Provide resolution to IT and telecom problems escalated to level two or higher, including serving as an expert and department resource for the most complex work orders.

    • Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016

    • Participate in and lead technology-related projects including upgrades, new initiatives, and rollouts.

    • Provide leadership and create action plans regarding technology-related projects including upgrades, new initiatives, and rollouts.

    • Identify and serve as a major contributor in proposing areas where desktop/laptop changes are needed and work with project teams to ensure system stability, reliability, and availability.

    • Stay current on new technology as it relates to desktop support including the latest desktop and laptop software and hardware products and ideas.

    • Image and configure systems including additional hardware/software requests.

    • Understanding of other IT disciplines.

    • Administer and perform Group Policy management.

    • Experience with software installation, configuration, support, and upgrade processes.

    • Effectively communicates to users and vendors regarding system problems and performance issues. Clearly documents issues and their resolution.

    • Create and maintain technical documentation and processes.

    Requirements (experience, education, competencies)

    • years of experience in an IT organization preferably in a helpdesk and/or customer facing environment of enterprise support. MDAA (Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) preferred.

    • Knowledge of asset tracking

    • Report generation and incident management

    • Outstanding customer service skills.

    • Perform printer maintenance and support.

    • Strong written and verbal communication.

    • Excellent team work and collaboration skills.

    • Demonstrated experience with desktop and laptop hardware, the ability to correctly prescribe PC hardware solutions.

    • Technical troubleshooting experience involving PC and network related issues.

    • Experience with networking technologies and TCP/IP.

    • Strong familiarity with MS Windows and performing system upgrades are required. Some nights and weekend work required.

    • Understanding of server and networking architecture and how it relates to the desktop using Configuration Manager.

    • Experience with critical patching, and MSI packaging.

    • Ability to perform light lifting, carrying and moving of IT equipment is also required.
