- Assume a servant leadership role to support a self-organized team
- Facilitate agile ceremonies and team discussions such as stand-ups, retrospectives, team celebrations, issue resolution, sprint planning, etc. to enable the team to deliver value.
- Amplify blockers and aid the team in identifying a clear a path for resolution.
- Engage with product owners to align team capacity and throughput with product priorities and timelines.
- Shield the team from external interference which would impact its ability to complete on time
- Coach the team to build collaborative and productive relationships; address any conflict and deliver a quick resolution
- Implement an agile framework of terminology and tools in relation to each team's maturity level and type of work to drive consistency
- Collaborate with the team to continuously improve its internal practices and processes to build predictability and efficiencies
- Contribute to building an environment where continuous improvement of the development process is in focus supporting a common goal to deliver outstanding results as fast as possible
- Leverage team metrics to identify opportunities for the team to improve practices and accurately forecast when work items will be completed
- Make data available to the team to manage aging work in progress and easily identify actions to ensure on time delivery of epics.
- Identify growth opportunities to improve the maturity of agile practices in the organization and create/deliver learning materials to support them.
- Be a connector Help teams learn from each other by amplifying successes across the organization.
- Mentor and lead other Scrum Masters in the organization
- Coach team leads and managers to build alignment with team goals and growth opportunity.
- May serve on cross functional teams as requested
- Act as a Change Agent for teams you are working with.
- Partner with the other Scrum Masters and Product Owners to coordinate schedules, manage risks, and coordinate work across teams.
- Serve as a mentor to more junior team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Four years' agile experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an agile environment.
- Experience with agile transformation required.
- Experience with change management.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of various Agile approaches, including: Lean, Kanban, Scrum.
- A technical background that enables interaction with technology teams and the communication skills needed to explain the team's progress and accomplishments in non-technical terms.
- An Agile certification is required with experience leading a software development team. Examples, but not a complete list, of acceptable certifications include: PMP- Agile Certified Practitioner (PMP-ACP), Kanban Certified Management Professional (KMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM1).
- Strong knowledge of Agile principles and practices required.
- Experience with actionable agile or other similar agile management tools preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and demonstrate that learning on the job
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Must maintain high-level of confidentiality
- Can be accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables with little day-to-day management
- Uses judgement, but supervision required for overall tasks
- Experienced understanding of the business line and a basic understanding of specialized discipline.
- Able to handle problems that are difficult, but typically not complex
- Flexible, dispersed team environment both on Westerra campus and remote
