    Roles & Responsibilities:

    Clinical Research Coordinators, serving as Laboratory Technicians, at the Depression and Anxiety Center for Discovery and Treatment (DAC) are responsible for administrative, academic and clinical tasks surrounding biological specimen collection within our research. Responsibilities include running experimental procedures including as blood draws, saliva, and urine collection, collecting and processing biological specimens, entering and analyzing data, managing the storage and distribution of biological specimens and related data, managing lab supplies and equipment, conducting phone screens on potential subjects, study development paperwork, and presentation/publication preparation. Potential opportunities available to successful DAC coordinators include: publication in major medical journals; networking among distinguished individuals within and outside the medical/psychology fields; exposure to wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders and treatments thereof.

    Clinical Research Coordinators at the Depression and Anxiety Center for Discovery and Treatment (DAC) are responsible for administrative, academic and clinical tasks related to conducting a given study, including: running experimental procedures, entering and analyzing data, blood draws, saliva and urine collection, collecting and processing biological specimens, protocol development, as well as preparing presentations, publications or grant applications.

    Research personnel may be assigned to one or more studies, depending on individual experience and each study's complexity. Opportunities are also available to high-performing candidates, including: work with novel therapeutics (e.g., ketamine), exposure to wide spectrum of psychiatric populations, presentations at professional conferences and publication in major journals, as well as networking among distinguished faculty in clinical (e.g., Psychiatry, Psychology) and basic sciences (e.g., Neuroscience, Radiology).

    This position will require an individual who understands basic principles of scientific investigation and clinical trials and who is capable of in-depth understanding of the project's study protocol. Thus, the incumbent must possess excellent scientific, organizational, and interpersonal skills; the incumbent must also have a background in psychology to manage the technical aspects of the study.

    Responsibilities
    • Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research or interview techniques specific to subject matter of the research project, under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior clinical research staff.
    • Assists in the activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: obtaining informed consent, screening participants for eligibility, registering patients with sponsoring agencies, administering questionnaires and answering telephone calls.
    • Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
    • Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data.
    • May secure and ship clinical specimens as required by the protocol.
    • May assist in the preparation for regulatory agency site visits.
    • Performs other related duties
    Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred or a combination of relevant research experience and education
    • 0-2 years of research/human subjects experience
