- Learn and understand the principles and processes involved in wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of various equipment and systems, including pumps, valves, blowers, and chemical feed systems.
- Monitor and control the treatment process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and permit requirements.
- Perform routine inspections and tests to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of treatment processes.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of wastewater samples for laboratory testing.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment and systems, including troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Attending training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in wastewater treatment operations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to plant operations and maintenance activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment is desirable.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including working in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain a Wastewater certification, minimum Grade II, within 24 months.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Position Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance Technician Trainee.
The trainee will work closely with experienced technicians to learn the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain a wastewater treatment plant effectively.

Note:
This position is a trainee role, and the successful candidate will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced technicians.
Upon completion of the training program, the trainee will be eligible for promotion to a full-fledged Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance Technician role.
Must be able to obtain a Wastewater certification, minimum Grade II, within 24 months. This position follows a rotating schedule and upon completion of training will be required to take on call. This is a Union Position with a starting pay of $29.74.Additional Information
