The Department of Rehabilitation Science & Fitness is dedicated to the scholastic development of our students as we seek to promote respect, ethical behavior, passion for advocacy, and professionalism in future rehabilitation practitioners. We prepare our graduates to effectively serve the needs of the community, individuals with disabilities, and other human service populations as leaders in the field of rehabilitation science.
Job Summary
The Department of Rehabilitation Science within the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking candidates to serve as an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator. This 12-month, tenure-track position will support the newly developed hybrid format Master¿s in Occupational Therapy Bridge Program and reports to the Chair of Rehabilitation Science.
Responsibilities
This position involves teaching, advising, scholarship, and service to the institution and community as well as oversight of the MSOT Fieldwork Program. Responsibilities may include day/and or evening classes, online classes, weekend classes, course development and program planning/evaluation, fieldwork placements, relationship building and contract facilitation, as well as committee work as assigned. Some travel will be required.
Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
Master¿s Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
Required Experience
3 years clinical/field experience
Other Required Qualifications
Currently hold an Occupational Therapist license in the state of Georgia or eligible for immediate licensure in Georgia
Initial NBCOT Certification
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Experience with online/distance education.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
Preferred Experience
Prior successful teaching experience.
Interest in and experience to support course development.
Clinical experience in a combination of the following areas: adult rehabilitation, mental health, and assistive technology.
