    Department Information
    Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a Unit of the University System of Georgia (USG), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art position, with an emphasis in ceramics to support its BA in Applied Art and Design.

    Job Summary
    This position supports our innovative, professionally focused, BA in Applied Art and Design that consists of a studio art core with optional tracks in Graphic Design, Painting, Digital Media, and Film that are specifically aligned to the graphic arts, advertising, and film production industries.

    Responsibilities
    This position involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, student mentoring, and service. Travel among our campuses will be required as needed. Teaching responsibilities will include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses.

    Required Qualifications
    Required Education

    An M.F.A. in Ceramics or related field.

    Other Required Qualifications

    Able to teach ceramics classes.

    Able to teach three-dimensional art and sculpture.

    Readiness to teach at the collegiate level with commitment to student engagement.

    Evidence of scholarly promise or achievement.

    Readiness to engage in academic and community service.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Preferred Experience

    Prior successful teaching experience.

    Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.

    Other Preferred Qualifications

    Ability to teach a wide range of art classes in the department.

    Leadership skills that can help a growing BA in Art.

    Evidence of innovative pedagogical practices.
