    Essential Functions and Objectives:


    Performs a variety of professional, technical, and administrative tasks in developing and administering high quality assessments and correlating resources, including Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).

    Leads the development of an assigned set of District assessments. Interprets public school rules, laws, and policies regarding assessment. Trains school personnel in the proper administration and creation of common assessments and analysis of data and SLOs.

    Interprets changes to District curriculum and Colorado standards, ensuring that assessments, resources and SLOs are aligned and that teachers and principals are informed of the implications of any changes.


    • Provides support and training in the use of various assessments and assists teachers and administrators with tools and resources to aid instruction.
    • Develops and provides training and staff development in the areas of assessment administration, ethical assessment practices, and the use of assessment information for instructional improvement.
    • Supports schools in interpreting assessment results, linking results to curriculum, instruction, and assessment (including SLOs).
    • Develops assessment items to be used on District assessments and in the District item bank and develops model SLOs and learning progressions.
    • Conducts analyses of assessment results.
    • Utilizes the District's item banking system to modify and catalog assessment items as needed.
    • Monitors SLO submissions for content area assigned, including quality of SLOs; collaborates with schools to create next steps to address SLOs that are not of high quality.
    • Collaborates with other departments in the management, development, and analysis of District-supported assessments and SLOs.
    • Works with network staff to provide support and professional development to District schools in the areas of SLOs, assessment literacy and use of the District's online systems to deliver assessments and assessment results electronically.
    • Uses information from assessments to work with District staff to identify strengths and specific areas of need.
    • Collaborates with Curriculum and Instruction and ELA personnel on various projects and reports and prepares and conducts presentations for various groups as needed.
    • Responds to administration, school, and other requests for information in a timely manner.

    Knowledge, Experience Other Qualifications:

    • Five (5) or more years of successful teaching experience.
    • Three (3) or more years of substantial knowledge of and experience working with Colorado Academic Standards and/or Common Core State Standards.
    • Two (2) or more years of experience in item development (constructed response, selected response and performance based tasks), assessment creation, rubric development, and item analysis.
    • Valid Colorado Driver's License, appropriate insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
    • Strong understanding of the fundamental assessment concepts (e.g., reliability, validity).
    • Ability to understand and interpret assessment data.
    • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to develop and present complex information to teachers, administrators, or other adults.
    • Works collaboratively with others on a team.
    • The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance.
    • A deep commitment to issues of equity and to making a difference in the lives of urban educators and students.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
