- Bachelor's degree in Child Life or a relatedfield is required.
- Master's degree in arelated field is preferred
- Under thesupervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist, must havecompleted a 600-hour child life internship.
- Must have knowledge of growth and development,patient/family reactions to hospitalization, and copingstrategies.
- Must possess interpersonal skillsand communicate effectively.
- Must have aworking knowledge of educational development.
- Must understand hospital policies and medicalterminology/procedures.
- Bilingual –English/Spanish is preferred.
- Minimum of 2years paid experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist.
- Must maintain Child LifeCertification.
- CPR certificationis preferred. CPR certification is required within 90 days ofhire.

Facilitates child life advocacythrough collaboration with other health care providers. Serves as aleader in the department.
The CHRISTUSChildren's Hospital, established in 1959, was the first children'shospital in South-Central Texas. Located downtown, this190-plus-bed hospital serves more than 70,000 children annuallyfrom San Antonio, South Texas and around the world. The hospital(in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine) is the onlyacademic children's hospital in San Antonio. Our highly specializedservices meet the unique medical needs of children, from Pediatricand Neonatal Intensive Care to Children's Emergency Services, thelatest treatments for deformities of the spine including titaniumrib implants and halo traction, a Heart Center, a specializedasthma program, a highly regarded Cancer and Blood DisordersCenter, and growing maternal services to include consultation,delivery, and maternal fetal medicine.
