- Bachelor's degree in Child Life or a related field is required.
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Completion of a 600-hour child life internship under Certified Child Life Specialist supervision.
- Knowledge of growth and development, patient/family reactions to hospitalization, and coping strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of educational development.
- Familiarity with hospital policies and medical terminology/procedures.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist.
- Maintenance of Child Life Certification.
- CPR certification is preferred and required within 90 days of hire.

About CHRISTUS Children's Hospital: Established in 1959, CHRISTUS Children's Hospital was the first of its kind in South-Central Texas. This 190-plus-bed hospital caters to over 70,000 children annually from San Antonio, South Texas, and globally. It is the sole academic children's hospital in San Antonio, operating in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine. The hospital offers specialized services ranging from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to Children's Emergency Services, innovative treatments for spine deformities, a Heart Center, and more.
