    Description

    North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a per diem / prn Medical Lab Technician for a per diem / prn job in Iuka, Mississippi.

    Medical Lab Technician

    Supervision:

    • Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens
    • Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens
    **Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens.

    • Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens
    **Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers
    **Attends CARES training.

    • Answers telephone in an polite and efficient manner
    **Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees
    **Assures department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner

    • Assists with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives
    • Assures appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control
    **Assists with training of students and new employees

    • Stays abreast of regulatory changes
    **Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines

    • Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
    • Adheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards

    Associate of Arts degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited program; ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician, preferredwithin 12 months after incumbents graduation form an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program.

    Willing to consider 10 yrs of experience in a clinic or hospital laboratory in lieu of certification.

    Medical Laboratory Scientist students in their fourth year of study who have successfully completed a clinical rotation may be hired into PRN MLT position.
