    Description

    The Infusion Nurse in Neuroimmunology reports to the System Admin Officer for Neurosciences

    Under general supervision, the Infusion Nurse provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

    [Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program.

    Current Basic Life

    Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.


    C) Continuous = 6-8 hours per shift; (F) Frequent = 2-6 hours per shift; (I) Infrequent = 0-2 hours per shift) Ability to perform job junctions while standing (C), while sitting (I), while walking (F).

    perform 'pinching' operations (I); Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (F), ability to fully use both legs (C), Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.

    Ability to lift/lower objects 50lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (I). For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. Ability to work overtime as required (F).

    Computer literacy, ability to work rotating shifts, provide extended leadership coverage as needed, ability to learn, and use new processes, tools equipment as required.

    1Utilize the nursing process to facilitate age-appropriate patient care coordination activities based on individual patient needs in a safe environment.

    Assess and document results from positive required screenings completed for the individual patient population.
    Implement and document the provider/nursing plan of care, and document the patient's desired outcomes.
    Evaluate and document patients' responses to plan of care, pain, medication usage, follow-up tests, procedures, and treatments.
    Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members.
    Demonstrate knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, nursing standards, and legal issues in areas of specialty.
    Follow correct unit safety procedures and maintain competency for unit and hospital mandatory requirements.
    Document teaching in EMR following policy.
    Participate in updating clinic specific educational materials.
    Provide and document education specific to the reason for visit/patient problem, including given in clinic medications.
    Coordinate continuation of the plan of care utilizing all methods of communication between patient and clinic.

    Adhere to unit protocols used for phone triage.
