    Job Responsibilities

    Unger general supervision, coordinates and oversees statewide initiatives and efforts within the Impaired Driving Countermeasures, Police Traffic Services, and other assigned grant-funded program areas within the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP). Responsible for the preparation and development of Highway Safety Grant Program documents related to strategic planning and reporting of activity, as well as obtaining and maintaining federal funding.

    Coordinates the development and submission of Highway Safety grant applications for federal funding for highway safety projects. Develops desirable projects for funding with prospective applicants. Reviews applications for accuracy and ensures compliance with specified criteria as outlined by the federal government. Prepares assigned portions of the annual Highway Safety Plan and other assigned federal applications. Assists with coordinating/conducting events/activities and preparing materials associated with the administration of the Highway Safety Grant Program (e.g., Funding Guidelines Workshop, Project Management Course, Pre-work Conferences, award packets, etc.).

    Manages assigned grant-funded projects, to include scheduling/conducting on-site monitoring, monthly desk monitoring, reviewing/approving grant revisions, and providing technical assistance to subgrantees.

    Prepares assigned portions of state and federal documents (e.g., internal OHSJP grant application(s) and progress reports, Summaries and Recommendations, Annual Evaluation Report, etc.) as required.

    Coordinates and oversees statewide initiatives and efforts within the Impaired Driving Countermeasures program area. Implements activities outlined in assigned internal grant(s). Participates in program area-related task forces and work groups and coordinates community collaboration efforts within the Impaired Driving Countermeasures program area.

    Serve as the OHSJP liaison to the Statewide Impaired Driving Prevention Council. Responsible for coordinating meetings of this task force through a comprehensive approach to address program area strategies.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    State Minimum Requirements - A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

    Position requires a self-motivated individual with very strong proof-reading/editing capabilities, excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills. Applicant must have the ability to create clear, concise and comprehensive written reports and documents.

    Ability to speak effectively in a public setting, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with various professional agencies.

    Employee must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to effectively balance multiple priorities. Ability to use personal computer and related Microsoft Office software.

    Some in-state and out-of-state travel required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Grants administration or program management experience.
