    LEGAL CLERK II - Anchorage, United States - Municipality of Anchorage (AK)

    Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.


    This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.


    DEPARTMENT:
    Municipal Attorney - Criminal Division


    HOURS OF WORK:
    Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


    LOCATION:
    City Hall; 632 W 6th AvenueServe as the receptionist for the Criminal Division, Department of Law. Receive and process incoming calls and take verbatim messages as necessary. Assist and respond to requests from individuals who appear in person at the office. Receive, sort, date stamp, distribute and provide for the initial distribution of all incoming mail and municipal documents. Maintain staff reporting and tracking log to monitor staff whereabouts. Forward faxes, emails, phones calls and messages to attorneys/staff. Copying/scanning as requested. Order supplies as needed. Stock supply room. Maintain fee checking account. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two (2) years of clerical or office experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a legal or law enforcement environment.

    Typing test at a net speed of 35 WPM at time of application


    NOTE:

    In order to be considered, official certification of 35 WPM (current within the past one (1) year) MUST be attached to the application.

    Documentation or certification results must clearly indicate the applicant's name and date the test was taken.

    Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) certification within one (1) month of hire.

    Satisfactory national criminal background investigation (13 AAC 85.010, and 13 AAC and financial review at time of hire.

    If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted background check.

    A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.

    If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS and (AS Accordingly it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested.

    The processing fee of $48.25 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable), is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.


    If selected for hire, appointment in this position requires Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) certification and Tiburon clearance within 30 days of hire.

    If the individual selected for this position fails to obtain these within 30 days of hire, they will be terminated.

    All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.


    Military Service Interview Preference:


    Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran.

    The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.


    Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules D must attach proof of current service to the application.

    Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment.

    The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service.

    The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.

    The Municipality of Anchorage is an employer of National Service.
