The Data team (DAA1.1) is the driver of Munich Re's data strategy.

We strategically invest in the creation of data products by structuring internal data and sourcing external data from data providers where appropriate.

At the exciting forefront of the digital transformation and the rapidly growing importance of data, it is our mission to enable the organization to generate additional bottom-line results by leveraging the power of data.


The Data Assets Team is based out of Munich and the US and works with internal and external partners across the globe.

The team closely liaises and jointly drives projects with all business units and central units like Corporate Underwriting and Corporate Claims.

In order to grow the team, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial and/or product mindset, being curious, committed, and excited about shaping the future of Munich Re in the role of a Data Analyst.


YOUR JOB

  • Support the execution of Munich Re ́s data strategy
  • Work closely together with underwriting, claims and actuarial teams to understand their business needs and data requirements
  • Work in cross functional data product teams as a data analyst to evaluate the quality and fit of different internal and external data sets
  • Use self service data management tools to link and transform data from different sources and build visualizations and dashboards
  • Leverage the power of AI and LLMs to extract information from documents, excel sheets and other semistructured sources
  • Actively market your data product to relevant Munich Re internal stakeholders in North America and globally
  • Keep track of usage, adoption and total cost of ownership for your data product

YOUR PROFILE

  • Good understanding of the US (re)insurance market with relevant experience for 2+ years
  • Bachelor in computer science, maths or a related degree
  • Experience in working in an agile setup for 2+ years
  • Proficiency in technical data handling, e.g. writing SQL or Python scripts to manipulate data for 2+ years
  • Integrative personality, strong in building and maintaining relationships (internally and externally)
  • Drive and dedication, as well as creativity and handson attitude to initiate and execute use cases ("getting things done")
  • Excellent ability to communicate to both technical and nontechnical communities to ensure data uses and limitations are well understood and will provide substantive business value
The salary range posted below applies to the Company's NYC location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $76,400 - $112,000 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.

In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
