    This position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in delivering a new Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) with Child Welfare Digital Services (CWDS), a unique collaboration involving the California Health and Human Services Office of Technology and Solutions Integration (CalHHS OTSI), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), and California's Counties and Tribes.

    Under the general direction of the Chief of Information Security, the Privacy Specialist (IT Specialist II) serves as the Subject Matter expert for all aspects of Information Privacy in CWDS. Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and policies and oversees internal privacy practices and procedures to ensure alignment between security, risk management, and privacy practices as part of the CWS-CARES Information Security and Privacy Program.The Privacy Specialist develops, implements, and continually evaluates the CWS-CARES Privacy Program including the identification of privacy risks and the implementation of related risk remediation or mitigation strategies; coordinating efforts between the various entities, individuals, and departments that are both internal and external including and not limited to OTSI, CDSS, CalHHS Agency, etc.) to identify and minimize privacy risks; leads development of privacy standards, policies and procedures as appropriate; leads and participates (as appropriate) in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all Data Sharing/Usage agreements, to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed, ensures delivery of privacy training to employees, drives the investigation, resolution, and reporting of details of all privacy-related incidents to the Office of Information Security (OIS) within the California Department of Technology.The Privacy Specialist will also work with the Chief of Information Security, and other members of the CWDS ISO team to focus on promoting and advocating the foundational information security principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability throughout CWDS. The incumbent will cross-train in all CWDS Information Security Office areas to provide backup support as necessary.
