Tobin Beaudet Schools – Group Leader Company Overview and Educational Programs

Tobin Beaudet Schools: Nurturing, Educating and Empowering Children

Our program provides young children with a nurturing environment and capable teachers to help them become successful learners. Our program is licensed by the state of Massachusetts, and we are accredited by the Council on Accreditation.

    Position Overview

A Group Leader plans and facilitates safe and engaging activities for kids. The focus of this position is working in a team environment, building and maintaining relationships with children and families, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines governed by the Department of Early Education and Care. There is a need to be an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the well-being and education of young children and the needs of others, including children, families, the team and the school.

A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.

helping, not pressuring, others fosters the relationship

    Decision-Making

    • Position requires working with and through others, especially in a helping role
    • There is a need for a persuasive, "selling" (rather than "telling") communication style

    • Team environment: leader must be willing to jump in and roll up his/her sleeves to help out when necessary
    • Need someone who leads by example, with first-hand knowledge of area of expertise
    • Strong, friendly follow-up necessary on tasks delegated to ensure proper results

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain and value the professional culture; ensure a developmentally appropriate understanding of school aged children.
    • Contribute to the established school wide open communication. Consult with your team regarding daily schedule, individual children and parent needs.
    • Ensure families feel welcome and well oriented to the program when dropping off or picking up their child.
    • Communicate with your team on a regular basis, keeping them informed of all activity within the school relating to general business, children, faculty and parents.
    • Report facility, inventory, equipment and supply needs as required. Assist in the safe operations to include sanitary bathrooms, kitchens and classrooms; follow posted evacuation plan in each classroom.
    • Participate in required training programs, conferences, courses or other aspects of professional growth.
    • Attend regular faculty meetings.
    • Serve as a mandated reporter, reporting any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the Directors for follow-through.
    • Maintain Department of Early Education and Care compliance, COA, and QRIS; report to the Executive Director any potential non-compliances in a timely way. Meet with the Department of Early Education and Care licensor as needed. Communicate with the Director and the School Street team regarding EEC/COA/QRIS regulations on a regular basis.
