- Collecting all necessary information to register patients for exams or tests
- Scheduling exams and coordinating multiple modalities schedules
- Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
- Collecting payments, establishing payment arrangements, discussing payment options
- Engaging in all other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a patient access representative, customer service representative, or in a similar administrative role
- Outstanding customer service skills; Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Ability to multitask, handle challenges, interruptions, and stressful situations professionally
- Displaying strong planning, organizational, and follow-through capabilities
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology is a plus

Job Title: Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:
The Patient Access Representative plays a critical role in completing the registration process for admissions and ensuring the eligibility and accurate documentation of inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Reports to:
Manager, assigned department
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
Required Skills and Abilities:
Interaction with Other Departments and Relationships:
Interacting with all visitors to the department, including patients, family members, or staff from other departments within UMC or TTUHSC.
Physical Capabilities:
The role may involve lifting up to 25 lbs, with frequent sitting and walking. There could be a stressful atmosphere at times with many emotional demands. Near visual acuity is required for reading documents and computer records.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
The position is exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental changes, including varying temperatures.
