    Teledyne Reynolds (a business unit of Teledyne Defense Electronics, LLC) has over 60 years of heritage supplying the highest quality, high voltage interconnect solutions to the most demanding of applications in the Military/Defense, High-end Industrial, Medical, Energy and Space industries.

    The Electronics Assembler reports to the Director, Operations.

    Summary

    Under limited supervision, performs a wide variety of electronic and electro-mechanical subassembly and assembly operations requiring considerable judgment and initiative to build up and assemble complex units such as cable harnesses, electronic systems and subassemblies.

    Determines methods and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available or follows assembly shop and production operation sheets, wire lists, samples, drawings, schematic and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of assembly operations such as wiring, component installation and hand soldering, utilizing small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers.

    Identifies and selects components to be integrated into subassembly and assembly units. Makes own set-ups, alignments and adjustments maintaining tolerance in accordance with instructions. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles, and tests units as required, and all other duties as assigned. Experience with testing of cable assemblies or electronics is a plus.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Follows production drawings, sample assemblies and verbal instructions with minimum supervision. Understands and applies established acceptable workmanship practices to all facets of electronic assembly.

    Interprets and works from electromechanical schematics, drawings, work instructions and bills of material to understand the required parts and steps needed to complete the assigned assembly.

    Reads worksheets and wiring diagrams, selects components, such as integrated circuits, contacts, wires, and connectors.

    Mounts complex assembled components requiring manual dexterity and the ability to work with hand tools, soldering equipment, volt meters and other related test instrumentation.

    Knowledge of cleaning, crimping, contact installation, lead preparation, component mounting, parts orientation.

    Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.

    Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.

    Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.

    Uses hand and small power tools to place small components in boards, cables, connectors, etc. Inspect parts and performs basic tests.

    May perform other assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, and color coding parts and assemblies.

    Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
    May perform work (soldering and general inspection) under microscope.
    Performs go-no-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
    Troubleshoots and replaces defects of finished products.
    Reworks and repairs defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
    Follows safety procedures in the use and handling of flammable and hazardous chemicals required to meet all cleanliness specifications.
    Must be able to follow specific procedures and detailed instructions completely.
    Ensures that quality checks are completed throughout the manufacturing process.
    Records information on production records, logs and other report forms.
    Provides basic training and instruction to lower level assemblers on day-to-day assignments.

    Education and/or Experience Vocational or Technical Certificate or some college level courses in related field, minimum of - 5 years of experience, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Will occasionally need to stand, walk, talk/hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop/bend/kneel/crouch, carry or lift up to 5-50 lbs.

    VISION REQUIREMENTS:

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    moderate noise level due to machinery, work near moving mechanical parts, and occasionally work with chemicals


    NOTE:
    Relocation is not included with this position.

    Salary Range:

    $35, $58,630.00
