- Develop, implement, and monitor pharmacy systems, procedures, policies, quality assurance programs, and technological advancements to ensure optimal patient care statewide.
- Develop, implement, and monitor short- and long-range goals and objectives that are consistent with DAC's mission and vision.
- Develop and maintain financial and inventory control systems for pharmacy expenditures and operational costs per DAC Fiscal Policies and Procedures and determine resource needs and establish priorities.
- Manage staff including warehouse employees, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician supervisors, pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, and pharmacist supervisors.
- Provide clinical oversight to the Central Prison Healthcare Complex Pharmacy and North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women Pharmacy.
- Manage the performance management system, staff development and training, and human resources responsibilities.
- Ensure that all operations are in compliance with applicable DAC Policies and Procedures, and Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, and NC Board of Pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and/or practices of professional pharmacy.
- Knowledge of trends, current technology, and/or standards of pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage systems.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare reports, proposals, and policies/procedures and effectively communicate and present information.
- Documented ability to schedule, assign, and prioritize work of others, and develop training programs.

This position manages the outpatient and inpatient dispensing operations, clinical services, infusion programs, on-call systems and warehouse operation for the DAC Pharmacy Services.
This position is located at Apex Central Pharmacy in Apex, NC which serves 55 prison facilities statewide. This facility operates with automated dispensing equipment and produces a high-volume output daily.The DAC Pharmacy Services Pharmacy (Director) Manager is responsible to:
About DAC Pharmacy Services:
The mission of DAC Pharmacy Services is to provide quality, comprehensive, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care.
Services include dispensing and distributing medications to all statewide correctional facilities; developing and monitoring mechanisms for the control and accountability of pharmaceutical products at the facility level; processing and determining therapeutic appropriateness of provider medication orders and utilization review requests; providing drug information and literature research for the healthcare professionals; partnering with providers to monitor the effects of medications and to educate offenders concerning their disease state; and monitoring and tracking costs and trends for managing resources.
All pharmacy services are performed in adherence with DAC Policies and Procedures, State and Federal laws, and the rules and regulations of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy that governs pharmacy practice.
NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept.
of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.
This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.
Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
