    South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Associate Dean of Workforce Education.

    The Associate Dean of Workforce Education reports directly to the Vice President for Instruction and participates in coordinating, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs and engages with employers, K-12 partners, and community organizations to represent career education opportunities at South Puget Sound Community College. This position may assume responsibilities for the supervision of instructional offerings as directed by the Vice President of Instruction.

    What You'll Do
    • Helps to shape a vision for professional and technical education at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC).
    • Coordinates annual program advisory member training and as-needed employer-educator forums and visioning events to ensure that SPSCC's professional and technical program curriculum is graduating students with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to to be a competitive candidate for jobs in their industry.
    • Researches, recommends, and helps to implement new certificate and degree programs that meet labor market demands.
    • Maintains program approval records and acts as liaison between the college and the State Board for Community and Technical College's staff in matters related to program approval and professional and technical programs.
    • Ensures that all state and federal paperwork and processes are followed to begin a new certificate or degree, modify an existing certificate or degree, or discontinue a certificate or degree program.
    • Works with college outreach and public information offices to actively promote SPSCC's professional and technical programs. This includes establishing printed, web-based, social media, open houses, and other mediums of promotion.
    • Collaborates with Student Services to support the success of professional and technical students and programs.
    • Implements, monitors and administers the vocational certification process for all professional and technical faculty in accordance with the Washington Administrative Code (WAC)This work is done in cooperation with division deans and the Human Resources Office.
    • Prepares and submits all state and federal workforce education grantsand reports related to professional and technical programs.
    • Oversees and monitors workforce education grant related budgets and requirements-specifically Perkins and Worker Retraining.
    • Writes workforce grants as appropriate to begin a new program or expand an existing program.
    • Provides processes and support services to division deans and faculty in the development and implementation of program advisory committees. Ensures that all program advisory committees meet state requirements.
    • Develops community liaisons with appropriate public non-profit agencies and business entities to ensure ongoing support for programs and their graduates.
    • Acts as college liaison to workforce entities such as State Board for Community and Technical Colleges' Workforce Education Council, the Workforce Education and Training Coordinating Board, the regional Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council, Economic Development Council and other professional and technical education groups.
    • Administer the Career and Technical Education Dual Credit program and provide facilitation between local high schools, New Market Vocational Skills Center and the college faculty in the development and implementation of articulation agreements, updating the SERS database, and processing annual teacher verification forms.
    • Works collaboratively with the instructional teams to advance instructional initiatives.
    • Directs activities associated with special projects and program development activities as established by the Vice President for Instruction.
    • Assumes responsibility for areas of authority and other related duties as assigned by the Vice President for Instruction.
    Qualifications You Possess
    • Master's Degree
    • Three years of instruction/teaching/training experience or administrative experience in professional and technical (career and technical) education.
    • Competence and sensitivity in working at a college in which students, faculty, and staff are highly diverse regarding many facets of identity, including but not limited to gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, income, level of educational attainment, and religion.
    • Ability to manage change, advocate for historically underrepresented and underserved students, and build consensus.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Effective organization, problem solving, and conflict management skills
    • Demonstrated technology skills using Microsoft Suites, particularly Word and Outlook.
