    Job Description:
    This is a Full Time 12 month position. Salary range $40,000 - $45,000 annually (DOE) with full benefits.


    Education/Certification:

    • Preferred BA in Family Studies, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work or related education filed
    • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in relevant position. Bilingual

    Summary:


    A family engagement coordinator works as a facilitator who will help our families meet their needs by supplying knowledge, resources and understanding that family literacy can only be achieved through a two generational approach.

    Families need support building access to basic skills grounded in Family Literacy:
    financial, nutrition, education, security, school and community involvement.

    The coordinator must first have a familiarity with basic secondary and post-secondary educational opportunities while processing an awareness of the CT ELDS, Circle of Security and Parents as Teachers programs to lay an additional keystone for second generational growth.


    Minimum Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

    Essential Functions and Tasks:

    • Assist in the development of collaborative climate between EHALC and families
    • Initiate outreach which will support an increase in basic literacy, nutrition, and career pathways
    • Develop programs and activities designed to engage families that empower the family unit through meaningful education opportunities
    • Help families develop strong partnership and enhance communication between parents and families

    Required Skills:

    • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
    • Experience working with diverse constituents
    • Proven ability to work independently and within a team
    • Solid working knowledge of and facility with computer applications
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with experience working with adults in informal and formal settings
    • Driver's license, good driving record and reliable car required

    Additional requirements:

    • Attend LACES data training
    • Assist nigh staff with the new intake process for students entering ESL, ABE and GED
    • Obtain eTesting Certification from CASAS
    • Obtain Pearson Vue GED Proctor certification
    • Review and provide Facilitator wit current Educational Functioning Level (EFL) and Measurable Skill Gain (MSG) Period of Participation (POP) data collection information to meet the CSDE negotiated target percentages for the Department of Education
    • Develop a new class with the ESL staff (beginners and intermediate classes) and America Job Center (AJC) mandates that have been filled
    • Attend monthly WDB and AJC meeting and provide a debriefing for the Facilitator
    • Work with the guidance department to offer two meet and greets with the WDB and AJC (Fall and Spring) for the mandated programs

    Evaluation:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel
