PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Lead the work of the journey level Electricians and contract workers to ensure equipment reliability in a safe manner. Participates in the installation repair, maintenance inspection, equipment calibration, overhaul, parts ordering and installation of systems. Assist the Supervisor in developing the Electrical Team through leadership, experience, positive attitude, encouragement and training. Back up support in the absence of Electrician Supervisor.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Help build a zeroaccident culture in the plant. Prioritize safety as our #1 value and lead by example on following and enforcing all safety rules. Promote and teach safe work behaviors. Take proactive approach to managing safety in the plant along with active participation in the plant safety programs.
  • Review technical documents to plan work.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts.
  • Confer with the Electrician team to resolve design or resolve operational performance problems.
  • Keep project team, and management, up to date on key project detail, keep the team informed on workload and hours required regarding specific project requirements.
  • Ensure that changes and problems get documented and communicated to the team and management.
  • Support, promote and execute company initiatives.
  • Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools.
  • Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use.
  • Work with Purchasing agent to purchase and maintain materials, equipment, or other resources.
  • Design basic circuitry and draft sketches for clarification of details and design documentation under engineers' direction, using drafting instruments or computeraided design (CAD) equipment.
  • Test electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
  • Calibrate scientific or technical equipment.
  • Advise customers on the use of products or services.
  • Create schematic drawings for electronics.
  • Research equipment or component needs, sources, competitive prices, delivery times, or ongoing operational costs.
  • Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans.
  • Fabricate parts, such as coils, terminal boards, or chassis, using bench lathes, drills, or other machine tools.
  • Fabricate products or components using machine tools.
  • Develop or upgrade preventative maintenance procedures for components, equipment, parts, or systems.
  • Develop technical methods or processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:


  • Journeyman electrician designation with at least 10 years industrial experience.
  • Experience with installation, troubleshooting, repair and adjustment of industrial, electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Rockwell PLCs, PLC5, Controllogix5000, Siemens Processors and RSLogix.
  • Software experience with frequency drives, Yaskawa and others preferred along with demonstrated knowledge of programming all drives.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of 3 phase power circuits and ability read electrical prints.
  • Familiar with personal protective equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools, and power tools.
  • Experience in manufacturing required.
  • Ability to navigate computerbased programs.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Able to stand for a long duration in excess of 8 hours.
  • Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
  • Able to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.
  • Able to climb stairs frequently.
  • Able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Able to be called in to support break down line issues.
