    **POSITION SUMMARY**

    The Assistant Manager Banquets will be responsible for efficiently managing and delegating all aspects of service and scheduling as directed by the Special Events Operations Manager.

    **ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

    Monitors performance to ensure adherence to all service, sanitation and productivity standards to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.

    Works with Special Events Management Team on departmental financial requirements; monitors and controls food, beverage and labor costs.

    Develops and implements policies and procedures. Manages staffing, training and development of the Special Events team.

    Performs annual reviews and development plans for direct reports and review all department reviews. Develop annual goals and approve goals for Special Events employees.

    Ensures compliance to CIA California Standards of Excellence.

    Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.

    Assists with the planning for Special Events

    Arrangements to include incoming rentals, flowers, and ancillary services.

    Staffing according to prescribed guidelines, prepare a floor plan, and assign side work.

    Distribution of Special Event orders, china orders, and purchase requisitions.

    Sequence of service, place setting, and center of the table layouts.

    Distribute all rental and in-house equipment for staff.

    Assist with setup, perform staff briefing, and monitor timing schedule.

    Oversee service for duration of event and ensure guest satisfaction.

    Manage and assist with breakdown of event, inventory equipment, and monitor cleanup including physically moving tables, chairs, equipment and any necessary event items.

    Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including wage and hour and all federal, state and local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages and food safety and sanitation.

    Consults with direct reports daily to ensure the highest level of guest service.Reviews and approves payroll for employees.

    Any and all other duties as assigned.

    **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    Education:

    Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or equivalent work experience.

    Experience:

    Minimum of two (2) years management experience in a high volume restaurant or banquet facility.

    **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    Ability to calculate and manage food and labor costs within a set budget.

    Working knowledge of Catering Computer Software, ideally Caterease.

    Food Safety certified.

    Comprehensive knowledge of fine wine handling and service.

    **REQUIRED SKILLS**

    Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

    Extensive knowledge of food and wine with an emphasis on California and Napa Valley.

    Excellent event management, interpersonal and relationship building skills, with a positive team oriented attitude.

    Demonstrated ability to show a high level of service responsiveness to customers.

    Detail oriented and thorough.

    Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.

    Strong knowledge of MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

    Excellent logistical planning and delegating skills.

    **WORKING CONDITIONS**

    Must be available to work a changing schedule, including nights and weekends, based upon business needs.

    Regular work requires a great deal of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stretching.

    Must be able to stand for minimum of eight (8) hours.

    Ability to work in extreme temperatures hot and cold for extended periods.

    Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

    Must be able to regularly travel between and work at both the St. Helena, CA and Napa, CA campus locations in order to coordinate special events offerings at the two locations.
