Duties:

Responsible for the overall administration and effective management of the MCCS Special Events Program. Develops, implements, and manages a variety of special events to serve the active
duty and military family populations. Creates and disseminates Letters of Instruction (LOI) and handles logístical details. Coordinates logístical event requirements with units and other MCCS divisions. Handles all financial matters of the program as well as its marketing. Prepares and proposes comprehensive operating budget to support on-going activities and projected special events.

Supervises employees to include:

assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment.

Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action.

Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Monitors programs on a regular basis and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action.

Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs.

Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Performs other related duties as required.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications:


Four years of event management experience with the ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of a dynamic special events program.

Knowledge with program budget formulation and execution.

Experience and/or the ability to follow proper military correspondence to include the development and execution of a military Letter of Instruction (LOI), Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM), Confirmation Brief, and After Action Reports (AAR).

Experience and/or ability to coordinate and oversee a large-scale event staff to include military directorates, large active duty working
parties as well as civilian staff and vendors. Two years of employee management preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills in order to interact with high-ranking military personnel and public officials. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and create and give professional briefs and presentations. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Selective Service Registration:
